The structure was devastated by suspected arson attacks in 2003 and remained derelict for more than a decade before being redeveloped into apartments in 2016.

The land that sites Holme Hall dates back to 1340, when Richard de Whitacre arrived in Cliviger from High Whiteacre (Padiham).

The Holme was subject to suspected arson attacks in March and April 2003 which devastated most of the south-east structure and destroyed period features, leaving the west wing and 1854 northeast addition intact.

[2] On 25 April 2013 the derelict property with 1.5 acres was auctioned on behalf of the Receivers with a guide price of £100,000 to £150,000 [3] and sold for £151,000.

[4] On the 30 November 2014 edition of BBC One's Antiques Roadshow two yew dining chairs from The Holme, dated to about 1700 and carved with the Whitaker family crest and coat of arms, were featured.
