Holy Trinity Church, Birchfield

[2][3] The foundation stone was laid on 26 May 1863,[4] and the church was built by the architect J.

A. Chatwin and builders Briggs & Son of rock faced red sandstone with white limestone bands and dressings.

The church has a good collection of stained glass by the best Victorian manufacturers including Clayton and Bell; Heaton, Butler and Bayne; John Hardman; and Alexander Gibbs of Bedford.

A parish was assigned in 1865 out of St Mary's Church, Handsworth.

[6] In 2018, the church building, especially the roof, had been placed on Historic England's Heritage at Risk Register due to its poor condition, but the repairs have led to its removal from this register.
