Its historic downtown centered at the intersections of Dixie Highway and Ridge road has a number of small businesses including coffee shops and restaurants, salons, a music shop, bookstore, boutique hotel, and the Homewood Science Center.
Roughly 4 miles of gravel walking path wind through the scenic and rolling prairie throughout the preserve.
Fishing, biking, running, and dog-walking are common activities along the preserve's trail system.
