[3] In 1983, the Museum was moved to a temporary location (which now houses Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre) in Kowloon Park.
It was moved to its present premises near Hong Kong Science Museum on Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui in 1998.
Occupying an area of 7,000 m2 (75,000 sq ft), The Hong Kong Story comprised eight galleries located on two floors.
The exhibition started from the Devonian period 400 million years ago and concluded with the Handover of Hong Kong in 1997.
Museum visitors can instead browse exhibits about the Chinese Communist Party and the Hong Kong national security law.
