Hood is a census-designated place[2] in Sacramento County, California, United States.

[3] The community was named in 1910 after William Hood, chief engineer of the Southern Pacific Railroad.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP covers an area of 0.3 square miles (0.8 km2), all of it land.

29 households (27.9%) were made up of individuals, and 8 (7.7%) had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

There were 112 housing units at an average density of 355.4 per square mile (137.2/km2), of which 69 (66.3%) were owner-occupied, and 35 (33.7%) were occupied by renters.
