Hood is a census-designated place[2] in Sacramento County, California, United States.
[3] The community was named in 1910 after William Hood, chief engineer of the Southern Pacific Railroad.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP covers an area of 0.3 square miles (0.8 km2), all of it land.
