[5] He teamed up with Wang Yuchen prior to the 2017–18 season to pursue pair skating.

In early December, Wang/Huang competed at the Russian-Chinese Winter Youth Games, where they finished fourth.

Wang/Huang were assigned to compete at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics in Lausanne, Switzerland in January.

[15] Wang/Huang were assigned to compete at the 2021 CS Nebelhorn Trophy to attempt to qualify a third berth for Chinese pairs at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
