Hugh Tyrwhitt

Hugh Tyrwhitt (14 July 1856 – 26 October 1907) was a Royal Navy officer who served as Private Secretary to the First Lord of the Admiralty.

His elder brother Raymond Tyrwhitt succeeded as 13th Baron Berners, and his sister Hon.

On 19 March 1900 he was appointed in command of the battleship Renown, flag ship to Admiral Sir John Fisher, Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean Fleet.

Following Fisher's recommendation,[5] Tyrwhitt was on 9 October that year appointed Private Secretary to the First Lord of the Admiralty.
