Ian Watson (priest)

Ian Leslie Stewart Watson (born Carlton, Nottinghamshire 17 September 1950) was Archdeacon of Coventry from 2007 until 2012.

He did formal, further studies to Interpreter level (French-English) during his service career and, as an Ordinand, theology at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford.

In 1977, he was the youngest officer to be awarded the Silver Jubilee Medal by HM Queen Elizabeth II.

A keen cricketer,[4] he now plays and coaches wheelchair basketball at National League level (after the amputation of his left leg in 2014 as the result of a war injury incurred in Northern Ireland in 1973).

He is currently the Chairman of the Society for the Relief of Poor Clergy [5] and the Steelers Wheelers Sports Club.
