Illingen, Baden-Württemberg

The towns of Illingen and Schützingen [de] were, in the Middle Ages, owned by the nearby Maulbronn Monastery.

[3] The municipality (Gemeinde) of Illingen is located at the eastern edge of the Enzkreis district, within the state of Baden-Württemberg and Federal Republic of Germany.

Illingen is physically located on the Keuper Uplands, just north of the Enz valley, between the Neckar basin [de] and the hilly Stromberg region.

The flag upon Illingen's dates to 1937 while Schützingen's key was associated with the township by the time of its documentation in the 1684 cartographic book Kiesersche Forstkarte [de].

That municipal coat of arms and flag were approved by the Karlsruhe General State Archives [de] on 1 March 1974.
