Six years later what had been St. Kevin's Parish was renamed Immaculate Conception when the present church building was constructed.

The original St. Kevin's Church was built in 1876 at Park Street and Cardinal Avenue.

The United States had been placed under the patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary under her title of the Immaculate Conception.

The former St. Kevin's church building was converted for use as the parish school, which was served by the Sisters of Loretto.

The former St. Henry's Church at Rutger and California Streets was destroyed as a result of two fires in the mid 1990s and had to be torn down.
