Indian Trail is a suburban town in Union County, North Carolina, United States.
A part of the Charlotte metropolitan area, Indian Trail has grown rapidly in the 21st century, going from 1,942 residents in 1990 to 39,997 in 2020.
Indian Trail was first a farming community; however, German and Scot-Irish and Irish settlers began to move into the area due to its geographical location.
Located in the southern portion of the Piedmont region of North Carolina, Indian Trail is a rapidly growing suburb approximately 10 miles southeast of Charlotte, in Union County.
