As of the 2000 census,[6] there were 6,809 people, 2,347 households, and 1,828 families residing in the township.

There were 2,457 housing units at an average density of 138.6 per square mile (53.5/km2).

18.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
