Dr. Sarfraz Khurshid (PhD from MIT) was the second Vice Chancellor of the University.

It has received research funding from Higher Education Commission (Pakistan), Government of the Punjab, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), World Bank and Department for International Development (DfID).
