Lăzăreanu was born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and at age five immigrated to Canada, settling into the Montreal suburb of Saint-Hubert, Quebec with her parents.

Lăzăreanu is also a designer with a successful fashion line in Japan in 2010,[8] and a capsule collection for the Simons department store in Canada in 2015.
