For years, she was a constant contributor to The Advance and held a responsible position in the office of that Chicago weekly.
[3] Isadore Gilbert was born in Waukegan, Illinois, June 21, 1840,[4] where her parents lived for a time.
[3] In 1878, she married William J. Jeffery,[5] then superintendent of the American District Telegraph and Telephone Service of Chicago.
When he finally began to get about on crutches, Mrs. Jeffery accepted the position of stenographer in the office of The Advance, a popular Christian weekly,[3] which she occupied for nearly six years.
