[6] As of the census of 2000, there were 8,153 people, 2,837 households, and 2,150 families living in the village.

There were 2,893 housing units at an average density of 1,013.5 per square mile (391.3/km2).

18.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 2.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
