Islay, Alberta

Islay (/ˈaɪli/) is a hamlet in central Alberta, Canada within the County of Vermilion River.

[2] Previously an incorporated municipality, Islay dissolved from village status on March 15, 1944, to become part of the Municipal District of Vermilion Valley No.

[3] The community was named after Islay, in Scotland, the ancestral home of pioneer settlers.

[4] Islay is located 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) north of Highway 16, approximately 36 kilometres (22 mi) west of Lloydminster.
