Ivan Grigorievich Savenko (Russian: Ива́н Григо́рьевич Саве́нко; 17 January 1924 – 17 December 1987) was a Soviet painter, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, lived and worked in Leningrad, regarded as one of representatives of the Leningrad school of painting,[1] most famous for his landscape paintings.
Ivan Savenko was born on 17 January 1924 in Varvarovka village, Chernigov Province, Ukraine, USSR.
He was a veteran of World War II, was wounded and lost his right hand, he had many military orders.
In 1950–1954, Savenko studied as post-graduate student in Ilya Repin Institute in Aleksandr Gerasimov art studio.
His paintings reside in State Russian Museum, State Tretyakov Gallery, in art museums and private collections in Russia, France, Ukraine, Germany, Japan, Italy, England, and throughout the world.
