He made his television debut as an actor in a small role in the Eesti Televisioon (ETV) crime series Kolm rubiini in 1978.

During his treatment, he didn't stop smoking, however[10][13] For the last two months of his life, Krjukov was unable to speak and had to communicate with his wife Ülle by writing.
