[3] JIS University was established in 2014 through the Legislative Act of the Government of West Bengal, viz.

The JIS University Act, 2014 (West Bengal Act XXII of 2014) that came into force in February, 2015 by the JIS Group Educational Initiatives, an educational conglomerate of Eastern India with 24 years of experience.

The university has a mission to be one of the top class universities in India and a preferred destination for students, research scholars and faculty members alike, with a view for not only world class education but also a world of opportunities to students, academic as well as otherwise.

JIS University offers a host of academic as well as technical, medical and professional courses and programs in the fields of as such the curriculum at the University, which is always updated to ensure that it keeps pace with the prevailing standards.

Research conducted in this university is largely focused on issues that are socially relevant and have a broad impact.
