Jack Creek Fire

The Jack Creek Fire was started by a lightning strike on August 11, 2017, about 15 miles southwest of Leavenworth, Washington in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.

[1][2] By September 3, the fire had grown to approximately 700 acres (3 km2) due to warm temperatures and low humidity.

On September 11, the fire made a run, growing to 1,600 acres (6 km2) by expanding into the Stuart Lake and Eightmile drainages.

An estimated four miles of trails along Jack Creek, Van Epps and Eightmile drainages have increased threats of rockfalls and flooding.
