[3] Located in the northeastern part of the county, it borders the following townships: No municipalities are located in Jackson Township.
The unincorporated community of Marathon lies in the township's east.
[4] The small community of Lerado was laid out by Bernard Conn in April 1834 as "Brownsville" on the "Newtonsville and Brownsville free turnpike", now State Route 131.
It was thought, at one time, that Brownsville would become a sizable town with considerable population and many businesses.
[5] The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.
