Jaktorów

Jaktorów [jakˈtɔruf] is a village in Grodzisk Mazowiecki County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland.

[1] It lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) west of Grodzisk Mazowiecki and 37 km (23 mi) southwest of Warsaw.

The last recorded aurochs (Bos taurus primigenius), a female, died in 1627 in the Jaktorów Forest, Poland.

Also called the urus (in Polish tur), aurochs were the ancestors of domestic cattle, inhabiting Europe, Asia, and North Africa.
