James L. Campbell

Lieutenant General James Lowell Campbell[1] (born 16 August 1949) is a retired Lieutenant General in the United States Army and was previously Director of the Army Staff.

Commissioned through ROTC, he graduated in 1971 from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education.

During his time as Commanding General of the 10th Mountain Division from 1999 to 2001, he deployed to Bosnia and Herzegovina and served as Commanding General for the Multi-National Division (North) for Operation Joint Forge.
