James Warren Dean Jr. is an American educator who served as the 20th President of the University of New Hampshire from 2018 to 2024.
Dean graduated from the Catholic University of America, where he earned a bachelor's degree.
[2] As provost, he led a number of efforts to support student success, worked to enhance retention and graduation rates, and reorganized resources to better prepare students for life and success after college.
Dean also helped to lead a transition toward a new university wide budget model.
[3] Dean succeeded Mark Huddleston as the 20th president of the University of New Hampshire on June 30, 2018.
