Sir Jameson Boyd Adams KCVO CBE DSO RD (6 March 1880 – 30 April 1962) was a British Antarctic explorer and Royal Naval Reserve officer.
In 1902 he became a sub-lieutenant in the Royal Naval Reserve, and on reaching the rank of Lieutenant he was one of the last to gain a Master Mariner's certificate under sail.
Then, after a period of special work at the Ministry of Munitions, he was posted to Flanders to command a battery of naval siege guns.
After the war, he returned to the Ministry of Labour as Controller for the North-Eastern Division, and such spare time as he had was largely devoted to helping boys' clubs.
In January 2009, another of "The Mate's" great-grandsons, David Cornell, joined the Expedition at the Farthest South 88°23′S 162°00′E / 88.383°S 162.000°E / -88.383; 162.000 to complete the last 97 miles (156 km) of unfinished family business.
