Jan Schütte (born 26 June 1957) is a German film director and screenwriter.
[1] After graduating from high school, he studied literature, philosophy and art history in Tübingen, Zurich and Hamburg.
[2] From 1979 he worked as a television reporter for regional TV programs.
Schütte was director of the German Film and Television Academy and is the director of the American Film Institute in Los Angeles.
[3] Schütte lives with his wife Christina Szápáry in Los Angeles and Berlin.
