Jan Vogler

Jan Vogler (born February 18, 1964) is a German-born classical cellist who lives in New York City.

[1] He left the position in 1997 to pursue a solo career, moving to New York with his wife, violinist Mira Wang and their two children.

[2] There he befriended Bill Murray[3] who joined him in 2017 for a musical recital in the Kulturpalast (Dresden).

[4] The program, titled "New Worlds", was recorded for Decca Records, Murray's debut album, and toured in Germany and America, including the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg[5] and Carnegie Hall in New York City.

[6] German composer Jörg Widmann dedicated his cello concerto Dunkle Saiten (Dark Strings, 2000) to Vogler.
