[6][2] Sealy graduated from the master's program in creative writing at the University of British Columbia.
[6][7] In 2020, the short story she wrote as her master's thesis, "A Fair Wind to Take You Home", was the winner of the UBC/HarperCollins Best New Fiction Prize.
Set in Barbados and Canada, and spanning sixty years, it is narrated by four different members of the same family haunted by a traumatic incident.
[11] Sealey has published short stories in Canadian literary magazines including The New Quarterly, Room, and Prairie Fire.
[4][14] In 2023, she was named one of the ten winners of the Journey Prize, in a special edition devoted to new Black Canadian writers.
