In 1997, Brown auditioned for Five, a new boy band-style group with "attitude and edge" and was eventually selected to be part of the band along with Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson, Sean Conlon and Abz Love.
Five went on to enjoy massive success worldwide, selling over 20 million records in their four years.
[3] After the disbandment, Brown devoted his time to charity work and several protests against Iraq War.
[5][6] In 2007 Brown was third place in the seventh series of ITV's reality show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!.
[9] In January 2013, Five returned to star in the ITV2's reality show The Big Reunion, but Brown declined to join the group again, claiming he didn't feel comfortable on stage.
