Jean-François Gilart de Larchantel ( — Saint-Louis-du-Sud, 23 January 1781[1][2]) was a French Navy officer.
He notably served during the War of American Independence.
[1] He joined the Navy as a Garde-Marine on 1 April 1748.
[4] The year after, he transferred to the fluyt Salomon.
[8] On 4 April 1777, Larchantel was promoted to Captain,[1] and he was appointed to the command of the 64-gun Roland,[9][3] last ship in the second Division of the Blue Squadron (rear) of the fleet under Orvilliers.
