The Case for Big Government was a Finalist (runner-up) for the PEN Galbraith General Non-Fiction Award for 2007-2008.

His 2011 book Age of Greed argued that the anti-government rhetoric of the 1970s, combined with deregulation of the financial sector, resulted in tremendous damage to the American economy.
