Jerzy Jarzębski

Jerzy Jarzębski (August 22, 1947 – February 25, 2024) was a Polish literary historian and critic, a long time professor at the Jagiellonian University.

[1][2][3] He is acclaimed for his research on Witold Gombrowicz, Bruno Schulz, Stanisław Lem, as well as on new names, such as Andrzej Kuśniewicz [pl], Marek Hłasko and Olga Tokarczuk, among other works.

In 1971 he started his work at the university as a teaching assistant, obtained his habilitation in 1993, and in 1998 he obtained the title of professor.

During 2005-2012 he was deputy dean of the Faculty of Polish Studies of the university.
