James Wayland Davis (born January 7, 1947) is an American politician and orthodontist who served as a member of the North Carolina General Assembly.
He represented the Senate's fiftieth district, which includes Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Jackson, Macon, and Swain counties from 2011 until 2021.
He earned his DDS degree from Loma Linda University's School of Dentistry in 1974.
Prior to operating an orthodontic practice in Franklin, North Carolina, Davis worked as a dentist.
[5] On December 19, 2019, Davis announced that he would be a candidate for Congress in 2020 to succeed incumbent Mark Meadows, who resigned from congress to serve as the 29th White House Chief of Staff.
