Joan Azrack

[1] She received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974 from Rutgers University.

She began her career as a trial attorney in the Criminal Division of the United States Department of Justice from 1979 to 1981.

[3][4][5] On September 18, 2014, President Barack Obama nominated Azrack to serve as a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, to the seat vacated by Judge Joanna Seybert, who assumed senior status on January 13, 2014.

[6] She received a hearing before the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary on November 13, 2014.

[8] On Saturday, December 13, 2014 Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid filed a motion to invoke cloture on the nomination.
