John Brinsley Sheridan (January 22, 1870 – April 14, 1930) was an Irish-born American sportswriter.
In addition, he wrote with authority about American football, boxing and golf, among other sports.
While on the committee he became a whistleblower about some dishonest and illegal activities in the department, and decided to submit his resignation.
He soon suffered a nervous breakdown because of the affair and underwent medical care in sanitarium, but never recovered.
He was found hanging in his room at Alexian Brothers Hospital by a bathrobe cord.
