John C. Calhoun (police officer)

[1] Before working in law enforcement, he was a professional baseball player and manager.

John C. Calhoun was born in Allegheny, Pennsylvania on December 14, 1881.

He was named commissioner of police by mayor Edward V. Babcock in 1918, and appointed superintendent in 1922.

He resigned on June 7, 1923, and was made commissioner of the Oakland district.

[2] He later held law enforcement leadership positions in Daytona Beach, Florida and Hamilton, Ohio.
