He swam for Great Britain in the Olympics and later became a collegiate head coach in the United States.
He competed at the Summer Olympics in 1988 in Seoul, South Korea, and in 1992 in Barcelona, Spain.
[1] At the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Australia, representing England he earned a silver medal as a member of the second-place English men's team in the 4x200-metre freestyle relay.
[2] Four years later at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, he won another bronze medal as part of the English men's team in the 4x200-metre freestyle relay.
He later would resign the Iowa head coach position in the middle of the season, due to violating NCAA's eligibility rules.
