John F. Lindley

John Frank Lindley (August 29, 1918 – April 23, 1971) was an American attorney and politician.

[1] Lindley graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in 1938 and enlisted in the United States Army in 1941.

While serving overseas in World War II, Lindley earned a Purple Heart.

He ran for Lieutenant Governor of South Dakota in the 1956 election, winning the Democratic Party nomination.

[6] Lindley won the Democratic Party nomination for governor of South Dakota in the 1964 election, defeating Merton B. Tice, a municipal judge.
