John Jankans

John Jankans (October 3, 1932 - July 8, 2018) was an American professional football player who played for the BC Lions.

He played college football at Arizona State University, where he had an impressive amateur career.

[3] He attended Reading High School, where he played football under head coach Andy Stopper.

Unfortunately, that one loss to Williamsport High School (a 21-16 defeat) dashed the Red Knights' chances of winning the Central Penn Conference that season, and they ended up placing second.

Although Lenny Moore went on to win the Astor Trophy award, which designated him as the team's most valuable player, Jankans was voted "Best Athlete" by his classmates for the 1951-52 school year.

In 2011, he was inducted into the Berks County Football Coaches Association (BCFCA) Hall of Fame.

[10] Upon graduating from Arizona State in 1956, Jankans was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 11th round, 9th pick, as an end.
