Sir John Braddick Monckton FSA (8 July 1832 – 3 February 1902)[1] was a British lawyer and civil servant, then Town Clerk of London for 30 years until his death.
[3] He was educated at Rugby School and while living on King Street in 1851 he became a Solicitor's Articled clerk for the City of London.
He was one of ten children growing up on King Street, Maidstone, Kent, England.
[10] Their daughter, Mrs. Augusta Moore, who wrote as 'Martin J. Pritchard,' was a popular novelist of the period.
He is buried in Brompton Cemetery, London[11] in the south-east part of the central enclosed roundel.
