John Francis Arthur St Aubyn, 4th Baron St Levan OBE DSC DL (23 February 1919 – 7 April 2013) was a British hereditary peer, decorated Royal Navy officer, solicitor, and heritage figure.
His childhood was split between his parents' home in London and the family seat of St Michael's Mount, Cornwall.
[2] During his first year at university, in 1938, St Aubyn joined the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (RNVR) as an officer cadet.
He left university at the end of his second year to join up, having heard about the Dunkirk Evacuation (27 May to 4 June 1940).
He became captain of a newly seized Belgian merchant ship, therefore gaining his first independent command at 21 years old.
