Major General Jonathan David Shaw, CB, CBE (born 22 November 1957) is a retired British Army officer.
Educated at Sedbergh School and Trinity College, Oxford, where he studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, Shaw was commissioned into the Parachute Regiment in 1981.
[1] Having attended the Staff College, Camberley, between 1989 and 1990, he was appointed commanding officer of the 2nd Battalion, Parachute Regiment in 1997.
[1] He was appointed Director Special Forces in 2003, and having attended the Royal College of Defence Studies in 2006, he became General Officer Commanding Multi-National Division (South-East) in Iraq in January 2007 and went on to be chief of staff at HQ Land Forces in September 2007.
