Pagán was notable for driving in the winning run for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the seventh game of the 1971 World Series.

Pagán died at age 76 in 2011 at his home in Sebring, Florida, a victim of Alzheimer's disease,[2] and was survived by his wife and two sons.
