Juan Abarca Cidón

He is president of the HM Hospitales Group and of Profesionales de la Medicina y el Derecho (PROMEDE), an expert witness company.

He is an advocate of the private health care model,[1] as president of Instituto para el Desarrollo e Integración de la Sanidad (Institute for the Development and Integration of Healthcare -IDIS-), and part of the political debate on public and private healthcare.

[4] He is the son of Juan Abarca Campal, a surgeon, and Carmen Cidón Tamargo, a medical analyst, both founders of the HM Hospitales Group.

[7] In 2002, he founded the company Profesionales de la Medicina y el Derecho S.A. (PROMEDE), which carries out health and personal injury assessments for the judiciary.

[10] Among other positions, he is Vice President of the Spanish Association of Health Law (Asociación Española de Derecho Sanitario),[10] a member of the Board of Directors of the newspaper El Español,[11] and has been a member of the Advisory Council of the Ministry of Health (2012–19).
