Juan López (cardinal)

[1] He served as one of Cardinal Borja's conclavists at the papal conclave of 1484 that elected Pope Innocent VIII.

[1] Following the 1495 invasion of the Papal States by Charles VIII of France as part of the Italian War of 1494–1498, the pope sent Bishop López to negotiate with representatives of the French king.

[1] In the consistory of 19 February 1496 Pope Alexander VI made López a cardinal priest.

[1] He received the red hat and the titular church of Santa Maria in Trastevere on 24 February 1496.

[1] He was present with the pope in January 1499, when he was threatened by the ambassadors of the Catholic Monarchs and of Manuel I of Portugal.
