[2] In September 2004, Urquiza was appointed manager of Barcelona after Solari resigned for personal reasons.
[3] He left the post in November, and subsequently rejoined Solari's staff back in his home country.
[6] He then spent more than a year without coaching before taking over Técnico Universitario in January 2010; in April, he was replaced by Renato Salas.
[10] Urquiza led Clan Juvenil to the Serie B in the 2015 season, and returned to LDU Portoviejo in March 2016.
On 9 May 2022, after nearly six years without managing, Urquiza returned to Técnico Universitario,[13] but left after just one month after rescinding his contract.
