Judea, New Zealand

Judea is a suburb of Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand's North Island.

The suburb was established as a European fortified settlement in 1864,[3] as part of an offensive against local Māori during the New Zealand Wars.

The percentage of people born overseas was 17.7, compared with 27.1% nationally.

Although some people chose not to answer the census's question about religious affiliation, 50.9% had no religion, 34.2% were Christian, 2.2% had Māori religious beliefs, 0.8% were Hindu, 0.3% were Muslim, 0.5% were Buddhist and 3.1% had other religions.

[6] The local Huria Marae and Tamatea Pokaiwhenua meeting house is a tribal meeting place of the Ngāti Ranginui hapū of Ngāi Tamarawaho.
