Julieta Pinto

Julieta Pinto (31 July 1921 – 22 December 2022) was a Costa Rican educator and writer.

Pinto was born in San José, Costa Rica, on 31 July 1921,[1] but spent most of her youth on a farm in San Rafael de Alajuela, a time that demonstrated to her the harsh conditions of the working classes and those in lower economic levels.

After her graduation in Costa Rica, Pinto enrolled at the Sorbonne in Paris, where she studied the sociology of literature.

[3] During that same time she served in several public-service areas (e.g. IMAS, PANI, ITCO, and Editorial Costa Rica), motivated solely by her desire to improve society.

[2] Pinto served as a professor of Hispanic literature at the University of San Ramón.
