The village was founded in the 16-17th century by members of the Berisha tribe who fled from Shkodër most possibly due to blood feud.
[3] During the Expulsion of the Albanians, 1877–1878, many refugees, called Muhaxhirs, settled.
[4] Kçiq i Madh is eight kilometers south of Mitrovica and is on the M-2 National Road.
The Sitnica, main river in the Kosovo Field, flows through the south of the village.
